The updates on Carrie Fisher’s health situation since she was rushed to the hospital after going into cardiac arrest on an airplane on Friday have had me on an emotional rollercoaster. It felt like I spent most of my Christmas Eve Eve watching the status of her condition go from “critical” to “stable” and back again. I was like “Jesus, Gary, just give me some good news!” The last we heard, Carrie’s brother Todd Fisher said that she was stabilized but in critical condition, and was in the ICU. Carrie’s mother Debbie Reynolds now says that her daughter is in stable condition.

On Christmas Day, Debbie tweeted an update on her daughter’s health and also said thanks for the good thoughts.

Debbie wasn’t the only one to have words about Carrie yesterday. Carrie’s movie brother Mark Hamill tweeted for her to come home, and William Shatner is praying for her.

That was a nice thing for William Shatner to tweet. It was also smart. If anything is going to start Carrie’s heart beating at full-capacity again, it’s the energy of a thousands Star Wars and Star Trek nerds getting all weird online about Captain Kirk wishing a speedy recovery to Princess Leia. I pray that hearing “Okay, but *technically* that would never happen” for the 1,296th time will cause her to sit up in bed, grab her phone, and tweet at them all to shut up about it.
